For Field Trips

Learn and GrowTogether

A group of students visiting Navarro Farm.

At Navarro Farm, the best lessons aren’t found in textbooks—they’re planted in the soil, nurtured in the gardens, and discovered through hands-on experiences. Our field trips offer students and community groups a unique opportunity to connect with nature, learn about agriculture, and gain a deeper understanding of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

What to Expect on a Field Trip:

  • Farm ExplorationExperience the sights, sounds, and smells of a fully functioning farm while learning about the different areas, from the garden beds to the chicken coop.
  • Meet the Animals – Get up close and personal with our friendly goats, chickens, and other farm animals, learning about their care and importance to the farm.
  • Hands-On Activities – Depending on the season, students can plant seeds, harvest vegetables, collect eggs, or participate in fun, interactive farm tasks.
  • Farm-to-Table Education – Learn where food comes from, how it’s grown, and why sustainable farming matters through engaging lessons tailored to different age groups.
  • Lessons in Inclusion – Field trips at Navarro Farm aren’t just about agriculture—they’re about connection. Visitors leave with a greater appreciation for the abilities of individuals with intellectual disabilities and a deeper sense of community.
